The Women Development Cell of KR’s Sree Narayana College, Valanchery organized a highly impactful Self Defence Training Programme on Friday, 19th September 2025 at 2.00 pm in the college auditorium. The event was conducted as part of the Cell’s commitment to promoting safety, awareness, and empowerment among students.
The session was led by Grand Master Mohammed Ashiq (Red Belt), World Federation of Shotokan Karate (WFSK), an eminent trainer with vast expertise in martial arts and self-defence techniques. He provided hands-on demonstrations of simple yet powerful methods of self-protection, which could be applied in everyday life. The training included practical techniques to handle challenging situations, strategies to build mental strength, and tips on remaining alert in public spaces.
The program emphasized the importance of self-defence not just as a physical skill, but also as a tool to instill confidence, discipline, and self-awareness in young women. Students participated actively in the interactive sessions, practicing the techniques under the guidance of the trainer. Many participants expressed that the training helped them feel more secure and capable of protecting themselves if required.
The initiative was widely appreciated as it aligned with the college’s vision of nurturing a safe and supportive learning environment. It also highlighted the role of the Women Development Cell in empowering students to face challenges with courage and resilience.
