The Department of Geology – TACONIC Conducted a program titled Hands on Training Program on 28th and 29th November 2024. During this event, Ms. Samreena Mohammed,Research Scholar,MES Ponnani College delivered a lecture and practical classes about GIS Softwares and its applications. 28 students from the Geology Department attended the program.
During this program, first session was a theoretical class of GIS including Georeferencing, Components and Functions of GIS etc , attended by all students in the Department of Geology. The students learned the basic idea of GIS , Different software’s and their geological applications.
Next Session was a practical oriented class including creation of map. It was attended by third year students of the department of geology. All students are skilled to do the mapping in Arc GIS. It was helpful for each students to do their projects.
The program provided a comprehensive understanding of the Arc GIS tools. This program highlighted the advantages of GIS. The students gained knowledge about the geological application of GIS.
