Seminar on the Literary Contributions of K. R. Meera
The Department of Malayalam, KR’s Sree Narayana College, Valanchery, in association with the Women Development Cell (WDC), successfully organized a seminar focusing on the literary contributions of eminent Malayalam writer K. R. Meera on 02 February 2026 at 1:30 PM in the AVT Hall.
The programme aimed to critically examine and discuss the themes, narrative techniques, and feminist perspectives present in the works of K. R. Meera, with special emphasis on women’s writing and representation in contemporary Malayalam literature.
The session was inaugurated by Viji Thekkekkara, Assistant Professor, who delivered an insightful address highlighting the significance of K. R. Meera’s writings in shaping modern literary discourse and gender consciousness. The talk provided an in-depth analysis of select works, exploring issues related to identity, power, resistance, and the female voice in literature.
Students and faculty members actively participated in the seminar, engaging in thoughtful discussions and reflections. The interactive nature of the session encouraged critical thinking and enhanced the participants’ understanding of feminist literary criticism and contemporary Malayalam literature.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the event as a meaningful academic initiative that contributed to literary appreciation, gender awareness, and intellectual enrichment among the participants.
